Angie Young began her art career in a mental hospital in Anaheim, California back in 1993. Before then, she was on her way to becoming a successful journalist, but the horrible illness--Bipolar Affective Disorder--dropped a roadblock on her journey. She wanted to show her fellow patients what Bipolar (Manic Depression) did to peoples’ minds in an easy-to-understand format; she created a human bean society depicting the symptoms. The hospital staff and patients loved her cartoons, encouraging her to draw more. After her release, Angie sold her custom art T-shirts throughout California. Thus Human Beans Workshop was born.
The Lord Jesus Christ healed Angie of Bipolar at the end of 1999 and
she pursued other avenues of the visual arts: painting gourds in bright
acrylic colors and creating fanciful sculptures. She then took a step
further and dove into the world of fine art, leaving cartooning behind.
Subsequently, a plein air painter from San Francisco suggested
Angie combine her passion for oil painting and the outdoors, which she
did and it transformed her life as an artist. Since then she paints on
location throughout California, Arizona and overseas. In addition to
painting her
love affair with deserts, she enjoys capturing the whimsical side of
things on canvas in her studio. She changed the name of her business to
Angie Young Studios to reflect her fine art passion.
Angie loves to express emotion, bold colors, and kinetic energy in her
paintings. She enjoys working with the brush & palette knife but
most of all she is passionate about conveying the Glory and Grandeur of
God in her paintings (And His sense of humor too).
Angie expresses her zeal for painting through some of her writing as
a freelancer. She lives in Morgan Hill, CA with her husband Ken.
She accepts commission work and sells artwork in her private studio.
